In this edition, we discover how one man is turning deadly weapons into high-end jewellery and the family archives of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. Also, the British fashion designer Lulu Guinness brings her eccentric style to Dubai.
John Lennon was always a writer. Indeed, he conquered the world as one quarter of The Beatles. But strangely, his stories are a little less well known. While he was famous for his song writing, he also kept diaries and notebooks with him at all times. Two books came out when Beatlemania was at its absolute peak: “In His Own Write” (1964) and “A Spaniard in the Works” (1965). Sotheby’s New York marks the 50 years since John Lennon’s first book publication with an auction of autograph drawings and manuscripts produced by the icon. Irresistible, glamorous and mischievous: these are the words that Lucinda “Lulu” Guinness uses to define her quirky British accessories label. Despite of having no formal training in fashion design, in 2006 Lulu Guinness was awarded an Order of the British Empire in recognition of her contribution to the fashion industry.
