In its January 2014 issue, “SCANORAMA” explores Montpellier, Pisa and Frankfurt and advises on what to do before bidding Berlin farewell. We discover also the unmissable places in Prague, the charms of the coast of Dalmatia and a quartet of great coffees.

We used to know “bed and breakfast”. Let us discover the “bed and blessings”. The convent hotel Casa di Santa Brigida is run by the nuns of Bridgettine order whose distinctive headdress reminds the wounds of Christ. The rooms are large and bright and the decor is sober. Bedrooms do not have television but we can relax on the terrace or attend the choral services. San Francisco’s Chinatown is the biggest of its kind outside and the oldest in America. This is a nice place to visit, where more than 100 000 people live. The area is a little Beijing with its gift shop-laden streets and winding alleys. To commemorate the birth of Danish expressionist painter Carl-Henning Pedersen, an exhibition of 200 of his paintings, drawings, sculptures and ceramics is staged by the Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelts Museum.
